چکیده
Tropical forests are under increasing pressure, but conservation interventions have had only limited success in mitigating deforestation and ecosystem degradation. Over the past decade, however, jurisdictional approaches to sustainable resource use attracted attention as a potential alternative traditional strategies. These operate within formal administrative boundaries seek establish policies practices that apply all stakeholders. We compiled global database of initiatives developed definition typology for approaches; 80 included our database, 25 met this definition. categorized these according two criteria: focus intervention degree government involvement. jurisdictions encompassed approximately 40% tropical forests, with most experiencing higher-than-average rates. Although harbor overcome limitations previous approaches, numerous challenges implementation operation remain. In addition, because currently still early their lifecycles, long-term effectiveness strategy has yet be proven.

متن کاملSustainable resource use requires “clean cycles” and safe “final sinks”
In order to fulfill the objectives of environmental protection, today's focus on quantitative recycling rates must be amended by a more qualitative approach. Because modern products represent a mix of numerous and sometimes hazardous substances, ways must be explored to remove detrimental substances during recycling and to establish "clean cycles". On the one hand, such a "clean cycle" strategy...
