Josephson current via an isolated Majorana zero mode

چکیده
We study the equilibrium dc Josephson current in a junction between an $s$-wave and topological superconductor. Cooper pairs from superconducting lead can transfer to side either via unpaired Majorana zero mode localized near or above-gap continuum states. find that contribution supercurrent be switched on when time-reversal symmetry conventional is broken, e.g., by externally applied magnetic field inducing Zeeman splitting. Moreover, if has component direction of effective spin-orbit field, there will Majorana-induced anomalous at phase difference. These behaviors may serve as signature characteristic modes are accessible devices with only contacts.

Distinguishing a Majorana zero mode using spin-resolved measurements.
One-dimensional topological superconductors host Majorana zero modes (MZMs), the nonlocal property of which could be exploited for quantum computing applications. We use spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy to show that MZMs realized in self-assembled Fe chains on the surface of Pb have a spin polarization that exceeds that stemming from the magnetism of these chains. This feature, capt...
متن کاملDetecting a Majorana-fermion zero mode using a quantum dot
We propose an experimental setup for detecting a Majorana zero mode consisting of a spinless quantum dot coupled to the end of a p-wave superconducting nanowire. The Majorana bound state at the end of the wire strongly influences the conductance through the quantum dot: Driving the wire through the topological phase transition causes a sharp jump in the conductance by a factor of 1/2. In the to...
متن کاملSignatures of majorana zero modes in spin-resolved current correlations.
We consider a normal lead coupled to a Majorana bound state. We show that the spin-resolved current correlations exhibit unique features which distinguish Majorana bound states from other low-energy resonances. In particular, the spin-up and spin-down currents from a Majorana bound state are anticorrelated at low bias voltages, and become uncorrelated at higher voltages. This behavior is indepe...
متن کاملBoosting Majorana zero modes
One-dimensional topological superconductors are known to host Majorana zero modes at domain walls terminating the topological phase. Their nonabelian nature allows for processing quantum information by braiding operations which are insensitive to local perturbations, making Majorana zero modes a promising platform for topological quantum computation. Motivated by the ultimate goal of executing ...
متن کاملProposal for coherent coupling of Majorana zero modes and superconducting qubits using the 4π Josephson effect.
We propose to use an ancilla fluxonium qubit to interact with a Majorana qubit hosted by a topological one-dimensional wire. The coupling is obtained using the Majorana qubit-controlled 4π Josephson effect to flux bias the fluxonium qubit. We demonstrate how this coupling can be used to sensitively identify topological superconductivity, to measure the state of the Majorana qubit, to construct ...
