Joint Radar and Communications Waveform Design Based on Complementary Sequence Sets

The joint radar and communications (JRC) waveform often has a high range sidelobe, which will degrade the target detection performance of an automotive JRC system. To solve this problem, complementary group (JRC-CWG) design method is proposed in paper by exploiting philosophy sequence. In JRC-CWG, traditional unimodular waveforms, such as binary phase shift keying (BPSK) waveform, are used to perform function. sum autocorrelation function (SACF) JRC-CWG optimized minimize sidelobe level. Furthermore, considering that poor Doppler resilience, Doppler-resilient (DR-JRC-CWG) improve resilience. Finally, simulation results show DR-JRC-CWG have superior performances without degradation terms bit error rate (BER).
