چکیده
Abstract As the problem of spectral congestion is becoming severe, coexistence between two primary spectrum users, radar and communications, has spurred extensive research interest. To reduce mutual interferences functions, MIMO waveform design needs to consider compatibility in both spatial domains, where former achieved by null forming frequency domain latter shaped beampattern synthesis. Additionally, high power efficiency low system overhead are desirable characteristics for design. this end, we first introduce a new realistic constraint, peak-to-valley-power-ratio (PVPR) constraint per antenna improve efficiency. Then, combined with PVPR propose switchable individual control scheme jointly optimize waveforms locations. We adopt max–min matching criterion impose $$\ell _{2,1}$$ ℓ 2 , 1 -norm penalty on matrix promote sparsity array. solve resultant non-smooth non-convex problem, develop modified alternating directions method multipliers, surrogate subproblem over primal variables solved instead original its local convergence analyzed. Finally, numerical experiments demonstrate effectiveness superiority proposed counterparts, especially obtaining lowest sidelobe level deeper nulls using much fewer antennas.

Power Allocation Strategies for MIMO Radar Waveform Design
The role of waveform design is central to effective radar resource management for state-of-the art radar systems. The waveform shape employed by any radar system has always been a key factor in determining the performance and application. The design of radar waveform to minimize mean square error (MSE) in estimating the target impulse response is based on power allocation using waterfilling. ...

Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has superior performance to conventional one. It has been introduced to almost every application field of conventional radar in recent years. In practical application, MIMO radar also faces the problem of congested spectrum assignment, which makes it not possible to have a continuous clear band with large bandwidth. Sparse frequency waveform that cont...
متن کاملRobust Transceiver Design and Waveform Synthesis for Wideband MIMO Radar
This thesis deals with the problem of designing and synthesizing waveforms that are optimal, both in a signal-to-noise-and-interference ratio (SNIR), and in a system hardware design perspective, i.e., to synthesize time domain waveforms with a low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), or even constant modulus. In the first part of the thesis, we investigate the possibility to suppress interferenc...
متن کاملMIMO radar waveform design with peak and sum power constraints
Optimal power allocation for multiple-input multiple-output radar waveform design subject to combined peak and sum power constraints using two different criteria is addressed in this paper. The first one is by maximizing the mutual information between the random target impulse response and the reflected waveforms, and the second one is by minimizing the mean square error in estimating the targe...
متن کاملOthogonal Waveform Design for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Radar
An effective numerical approach is developed for orthogonal waveform design for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar. The Doppler shift tolerance is considered in the design cost function. The design results indicate that the Doppler tolerance of the designed orthogonal waveforms is markedly improved. Keywords-MIMO radar; waveform design; Doppler effect;
