Fish is a vital food source for people and contributes about 60% of the world's supply protein. It extremely perishable, if not properly preserved, it deteriorates can be detrimental to human health when consumed. The present study was carried out isolate Staphylococcus aureus Shigella spp. from thawed fish. A total 10 fish samples were bought different retailers in markets within Enugu metropolis. result revealed that analyzed using Mannitol Salt Agar Salmonella Agar, 8(80%) had while 6(60%) isolates subjected antibiotics, showed all sensitive Amoxicillin ciprofloxacin. Also, 7 Erythromycin Rifampicin, 6 Levofloxacin, 4 Ampiclox Norofloxacin. All resistant chloramphenicol, also Gentamycin, resistance Streptomycin. Ciprofloxacin, Amoxicillin, Perfloxacin. 5 Augmentin, Streptomycin Gentamycin. chloramphenicol Septrin. shows may have been contaminated through faecally water bodies unhygienic handling during after harvest. Hence, important find better ways preserving/handling avoid contamination with pathogenic micro-organisms since health.

Isolation of Staphylococcus aureus and Antibiotic-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus from Residential Indoor Bioaerosols

OBJECTIVE In this study we evaluated the levels of Staphylococcus aureus and antibiotic-resistant S. aureus in colony-forming units (CFU) per cubic meter of air. DESIGN We used Andersen two-stage samplers to collect bioaerosol samples from 24 houses in El Paso, Texas, using tryptic soy agar as the collection media, followed by the replicate plate method on Chapman Stone selective medium to is...

Isolation and characterization of minicell-producing mutants of Shigella spp.

Minicells are small, anucleate cells resulting from aberrant cell divisions at the polar ends of bacilli. We have isolated minicell-producing mutant strains of Shigella flexneri 2a (MC-I) and Shigella dysenteriae 1 (MC-V) after mutagenesis with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine. Microscopically, broth cultures of MC-I and MC-V were found to contain free minicells, normal cells, and filamento...
