چکیده
Septoria tritici blotch, caused by the fungal pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici, is a highly significant disease on wheat crops worldwide. The objective of present study was to find out new bacterial strains with bio-antimicrobial activity against Z. tritici. Two phyllospheric bacteria (S1 and S6) were isolated from ears identified as Bacillus velezensis according 16S rRNA Sanger sequencing. Antagonistic assays performed either living or cell-free culture filtrates showed in vitro antifungal activities For filtrates, half-maximal inhibitory dilution minimal 1.4% 3.7% for strain S1, 7.4% 15% S6, respectively. MALDI—ToF analysis revealed that both synthesize cyclic lipopeptides but different families. Interestingly, only S1 produces putative bacillomycin D. Such differential lipopeptide production patterns might explain difference observed between two strains. This allows identification lipopeptide-producing B. high potential application biocontrol

Antifungal activity of hops extracts against the wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici
Searching for alternative methods to conventional pesticides against crop pathogens is an important challenge. In this way, we tested the potential of hops extracts to be used as a bio-fungicide towards Zymoseptoria tritici, the main pathogen on wheat crops in France and Europe. Hops is known for its numerous biological properties such as antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal potential for hu...
متن کاملCharacterisation of an antimicrobial and phytotoxic ribonuclease secreted by the fungal wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici
The fungus Zymoseptoria tritici is the causal agent of Septoria Tritici Blotch (STB) disease of wheat leaves. Z. tritici secretes many functionally uncharacterised effector proteins during infection. Here we characterised a secreted ribonuclease (Zt6) with an unusual biphasic expression pattern. Transient expression systems were used to characterise Zt6, and mutants thereof, in both host and no...

The Dothideomycete fungus Zymoseptoria tritici (previously known as Mycosphaerella graminicola and Septoria tritici) is the causative agent of Septoria tritici leaf blotch (STB) disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In Europe, STB is the most economically damaging disease of wheat, with an estimated ∼€1 billion per year in fungicide expenditure directed toward its control. Here, an overview ...
متن کاملQTL mapping reveals complex genetic architecture of quantitative virulence in the wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici
We conducted a comprehensive analysis of virulence in the fungal wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici using QTL mapping. High throughput phenotyping based on automated image analysis allowed measurement of pathogen virulence on a scale and with a precision that was not previously possible. Across two mapping populations encompassing more than 520 progeny, 540,710 pycnidia were counted and their ...
