ISODATA SOPC-FPGA implementation of image segmentation using NIOS-II processor

<p>This paper presents an FPGA image segmentation-binarization system based on<em> </em>Iterative Self Organizing DATA <em>(ISODATA)</em> threshold using histogram analysis for embedded systems. The module computes pixels levels statistics which are used by the ISODATA algorithm to determine segmentation threshold. In our case, this binarizes a gray-scale into two values 0 or 255. prototype of complete uses ALTERA CYCLONE-II DE2 kit with lot component and interfaces, such as SD-CARD reader camera read be segmented, will implement intellectual property (IP) core calculation NIOS processor, VGA interface view results, possibly ETHERNET data transfer via internet. use contains ISODATA, histogram, processor others custom altera IPs hardware modules greatly improves processing speed allows binarization application on single chip. For project elaboration, we have QUARTUS-II software development part VHDL description, SOPC-builder QSYS integration NIOS-system, NIOS-II-STB-ECLIPSE program eclipse c++ langage.</p><p> </p>
