ISM-MICMAC approach for analysis of project-based learning barriers

Purpose This paper aims to identify and model the key barriers implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) in higher educational institution. Design/methodology/approach Using interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique, study has developed a hierarchical-based model, depicting mutual relationships amongst PjBL. Additionally, performed Matrice d’ Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqué an Classement (MICMAC) analysis categorize terms their driving dependence power. Findings The identified PjBL presented integrated using ISM. Higher institutions need pay attention diagnose overcome these hindrances for effective programmes. Research limitations/implications adopts systematic way relevant ISM-based would help education prioritize issues as are hierarchically structured. As input development is based on experts’ opinions, it may be biased, influencing final output model. Originality/value presentation form new effort. useful understand successful institutions.
