چکیده
Abstract Chronic stress is an important factor to several physical and mental diseases. Ishige foliacea , edible brown seaweed, has various biological properties; however, its role in alleviating stress-induced depression remains unclear. Thus, the antidepressant-like effects of I. ethanolic extract (IE) were investigated using corticosterone (CORT)-treated HT22 cells CORT-induced depressive mice. IE significantly reduced production reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibited monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity protein expression; furthermore, it up-regulated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) - cAMP response element-binding (CREB) brain derived neurotrophic (BDNF) signaling pathway. In mice, administration (500 mg/kg, bodyweight) exerted antidepressant according behavioral tests. addition, activated ERK CREB BDNF pathway owing CORT exposure hippocampus. Therefore, ROS MAO improved behaviors caused by hormones, which demonstrates therapeutic potential treatment depression.

Nanocurcumine Ameliorates Lipopolysaccharide-induced Depressive-like Behavior in Mice
Objective(s): Curcumin, a plant alkaloid from Curcuma longa, possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Recently, the antidepressant activities of curcumin were reported. Nevertheless, bioavailability of curcumin limits its therapeutic utility. Nanotechnology is a developing field that potentially enhances bioavailability and the plasma concentration of curcumin. This study investiga...
متن کاملPaeoniflorin ameliorates interferon-alpha-induced neuroinflammation and depressive-like behaviors in mice
Long-term treatment with high-dose Interferon-alpha (IFN-α) has resulted in depression in 30-50% of the patients. Paeoniflorin may ameliorate the IFN-α-induced depression; however, the underlying mechanism is less studied. Here, we investigated the prophylactic antidepressant and anti-neuroinflammatory effects of paeoniflorin on the behaviors and specific emotion-related regions of the brain in...
متن کاملDoxycycline Ameliorates Schizophrenia-Like Behaviors in Experimental Models in Mice by Targeting Underlying Oxidative Stress
Current evidences support the inhibition of oxidative and inflammatory signaling mechanisms in the treatment of schizophrenia; as cure for this disease still remains limited. Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic (a minocycline congener) with strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and better pharmacokinetic profiles. Preclinical evidence indicates that minocycline possesses ant...
متن کاملAlteration of Depressive-like Behaviors by Psilocybe cubensis Alkaloid Extract in Mice: the Role of Glutamate Pathway
Background and objectives: Considering the increasing prevalence of depression, many studies are launched to investigate new antidepressant treatments. The present research has shown how psilocybin as an active compound of Psilocybe cubensis (Earle) Singer extract (PCE) can change the parameters related to depression and anxiety in animal models. Both ...

Objective(s):Chronic stress has been linked to the pathophysiology of mood disorders including anxiety and depression. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of troxerutin (TRX), as a flavonol, on stress-induced anxiety and depression.Materials and Methods: 56 animals were randomly divided into seven groups (n=8 per group) as follows: control, saline, TRX 50, TRX 150, TRX 300, Diazep...
