چکیده

Abstract Background A few reports have shown that unilateral transverse process-pedicle percutaneous kyphoplasty is a good choice for patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF). However, this issue remains controversial and the related comprehensive research was lacked. Methods retrospective study conducted on receiving PKP surgery OVCF. Patients were divided into three groups according to surgical approach. Symptom radiographical evaluation performed preoperatively, 1-month postoperatively, 1-year postoperatively follow-ups. And follow-ups repeated every year. Visual Analogue Scale Score (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores, anterior height, coronal Cobb angle sagittal determined compared among groups. Results Totally 447 included an average age of 76.6 ± 7.2 years old. UTP showed significantly shorter duration (p < 0.001), lower cement volume 0.001) but higher leakage proportion = 0.044). No significant statistical difference found in terms improvement rates Besides, it notable observed group, about 4°coronal correction after PKP. Conclusion UTTP could achieve similar symptoms relief kyphosis as BTP had time less radio exposure than PKP, risk bilaterally distribution It seemed be better In addition, we especially fit OVCF asymmetrical compression.

Unilateral versus bilateral balloon kyphoplasty for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.

BACKGROUND Osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) commonly occur in aged people. Balloon kyphoplasty (KP) has been proven to be efficacious for pain relief and reduction of vertebral height for patients with osteoporotic VCFs. However, very little is known about the comparison of clinical and radiographic outcomes between unilateral and bilateral balloon KP in treating this kind of...

Percutaneous Vertebroplasty in Iranian Patients with Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures

Background: Osteoporotic compression vertebral fractures are common clinical problems. In those with refractory fractures, percutaneous cement augmentation has been suggested. The aim of this study was to evaluate the functional outcome of percutaneous vertebroplasty in Iranian patients with refractory osteoporotic fractures. Methods: We retrospectively studied 37 osteoporotic fractures in 28 p...

Percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures with neurological deficit: radicular pain can mimic disc herniation.

Osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) are the common disease found in elderly population. Neurological deficit in OVFs is rare despite the involved posterior cortex of the fractured vertebral body, severe kyphotic deformity, or the instability at the fracture site. OVF with resulting neurological deficit was considered as a contraindication for vertebral augmentation techniques. We reported a...
