Is N-methylacetazolamide a possible new therapy against ischemia-reperfusion injury?

چکیده
The increase of intracellular Ca 2+ concentration, produced principally by its influx through the L-type channels, is one major contributors to ischemia-reperfusion injury. inhibition those channels in different experimental models was effective ameliorate post-ischemic damage. However, at a clinical level, results were contradictory. Recent our group obtained an ¨ ex vivo heart model demonstrated that chemical derived from acetazolamide, N-methylacetazolamide (NMA) protected against injury, diminishing infarct size and improving recovery myocardial function mitochondrial dynamic. A significant inhibitory action on also detected after NMA treatment, suggesting this as responsible for beneficial effects myocardium exerted compound. Although these promising, effectiveness treatment ischemic disease humans well advantages or disadvantages comparison classic calcium antagonists needs be investigated.

Is adalimumab protective in ischemia-reperfusion injury in lung?
Objective(s): Increasing cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS) during ischemia reperfusion (I-R) leads to the lung damage. Adalimumab (Ada) is a potent tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitor agent. We aimed to evaluate whether Ada would prevent the lung tissue from damage development over the I-R process. Materials and Methods:Twenty seven Wistar albino male rats were divided into...
متن کاملMelatonin Protective Effects against Liver Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is a common phenomenon during liver surgery, transplantation, infection and trauma which results in damage and necrosis of the hepatic tissue through different pathways. Mechanisms involved in I/R damage are very intricate and cover several aspects. Several factors are involved in I/R-induced damages; briefly, decrease in sinusoidal perfusion and ATP generatio...
متن کاملNitrite therapy for protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury.
RECENT EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCE suggests that the anion nitrite represents an important storage form of nitric oxide (NO) that subsequently regulates a number of very important physiological activities (2–5, 10). This is a radical concept because nitrite was largely considered to be a biologically inert breakdown product of NO that served no physiological purpose. In fact, circulating nitrite leve...
متن کاملLigustrazine monomer against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury
Ligustrazine (2,3,5,6-tetramethylpyrazine) is a major active ingredient of the Szechwan lovage rhizome and is extensively used in treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease. The mechanism of action of ligustrazine use against ischemic cerebrovascular diseases remains unclear at present. This study summarizes its protective effect, the optimum time window of administration, and the most effec...
