Is higher education more important for firms than research? Disentangling university spillovers

چکیده
Abstract The paper is the first attempt to integrate microdata on universities and firms across most European countries in order disentangle impact of knowledge spillovers from human capital (graduates) intellectual (codified research output) performance firms. Data cover all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) registered official Tertiary Register (ETER). are ORBIS refer change 2011–2015 period turnover, total assets, intangible employment. Firms georeferred HEIs located at a given distance summed integrated. findings suggest that, among spillovers, creation via education students has larger than circulation knowledge. Moreover, two factors seem be complements rather substitutes. Spatial proximity important for embodied (i.e. educated people), while codified disembodied (citations publications) spatial dimension less relevant. have managerial policy-making consequences.

Fetal Vegf Genotype is More Important for Abortion Risk than Mother Genotype
Background VEGF gene has been reported to be related with many diseases and recurrent pregnancy loss in various studies. VEGF polymorphisms are risk factors for pregnancy losses, and generally studies report only women’s genetic analyses. To evaluate the association between VEGF A C405G, C460T, C936T and C2578A polymorphisms and spontaneous abortion, we studied the genotypes of spontaneously a...

متن کاملDesign for Yield and Reliability is MORE Important Than DFT
Introduction Most IC design engineers today are at the same stage when considering Design for Yield (DFY) and Design for Reliability (DFR) as they were when considering Design for Test (DFT) 20 years ago. Most engineers poorly understand them, there are few EDA tools to help them, and there is no consensus about whether it is even worthwhile. It is just one more Design for X that they don’t hav...
