Is Diversified Crop Rotation an Effective Non-Chemical Strategy for Protecting Triticale Yield and Weed Diversity?

چکیده

Diversified crop rotation (DCR) has re-gained attention worldwide as a non-chemical practice for increasing the sustainability of cereal production systems. This study focused on comparing effects two weed management strategies, DCR (the six-field system: potato–oat–fiber flax–winter rye–faba bean–winter triticale) without application herbicide (DCR strategy) and with + H yield winter triticale biomass species, taxonomic, functional diversities communities. In addition, responses cultivars, Trapero Borowik, to strategies were evaluated. Data from five growing seasons (2017–2021) long-term experiment (Bałcyny, northeastern Poland) are presented. The strategy proved less effective in protecting than but provided greater taxonomic diversities. Borowik had higher responded abandonment lower loss. When was used, more competitive against weeds reducing diversity. correlated negatively diversity, diversity positively correlated. findings show that can be grown if high-yield, cultivar such is used. Growing under conditions promotes diversity; however, years favorable weather conditions, it may necessary accept moderately compared protection. relationship between subject further research.

Crop Diversity for Yield Increase

Traditional farming practices suggest that cultivation of a mixture of crop species in the same field through temporal and spatial management may be advantageous in boosting yields and preventing disease, but evidence from large-scale field testing is limited. Increasing crop diversity through intercropping addresses the problem of increasing land utilization and crop productivity. In collabora...

Individual and interactive effects of crop type and management on weed and seed bank composition in an organic rotation

We investigated the effects of organic and conventional pest and fertility management on weed cover and the seed bank community in an organic rotation. The study was conducted during the 4th and 5th years of an organic rotation on part of a long term organic-conventional comparison trial. Results showed that although crop type (potato vs. cabbage) in a single year significantly affected wee...

Corn yield and yield stability under varying nutrient management, crop rotation, and rainfall

Long-term yield performance and yield stability of common cropping systems needs to be simultaneously assessed at various fertility regimes. Based on a consecutive 19-year field trial, including eight fertilization treatments with different combinations of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and recycled manure (RM), the effects of fertilization and crop rotation on corn (Zea mays L.) y...
