Ionic liquid as an effective green inhibitor for acid corrosion of aluminum composite: experimental and theoretical considerations

Abstract Results of anticorrosive performance ionic liquid 1-methyl-1-propyl-piperidinium bromide (MPPB) on corrosion 6061Al-10vol% SiC composite (Al-MMC) in 0.05 M HCl solution. Electrochemical techniques were adopted to study and inhibition rates. Experiments conducted the temperature range 308–323 K by varying concentrations MPPB. Conditions standardized accomplish maximum efficiency. Kinetic parameters evaluated. fitted into various adsorption isotherm models they best Langmuir isotherm. Using data from isotherms, thermodynamic calculated. The surface morphology was examined energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), atomic force microscope (AFM), scanning electron (SEM).
