Linear stability and instability of ion-acoustic plasma solitary waves
The Euler–Poisson equations for a cold, collisionless plasma support ion-acoustic solitary waves. We prove that these waves are spectrally stable at low amplitude in one space-dimension and present numerical evidence that they destabilize at finite amplitude before they develop singularities. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. متن کاملSolitary surface acoustic waves.
Solitary acoustic pulses can propagate along the surface of a coated homogeneous and inhomogeneous medium. It is shown how these nonlinear surface acoustic waves evolve out of initial pulselike conditions generated by pulsed laser excitation and how they can be monitored by optical detection. The solitary pulse shapes at the surface are computed on the basis of an evolution equation with nonloc...
متن کاملCompressive and rarefactive dust-ion acoustic solitary waves in four components quantum plasma with dust-charge variation
Based on quantum hydrodynamics theory (QHD), the propagation of nonlinear quantum dust-ion acoustic (QDIA) solitary waves in a collision-less, unmagnetized four component quantum plasma consisting of electrons, positrons, ions and stationary negatively charged dust grains with dust charge variation is investigated using reductive perturbation method. The charging current to the dust grains ca...
متن کاملQuantum Ion Acoustic Solitary and Shock Waves in Dissipative Warm Plasma with Fermi Electron and Positron
Ion-acoustic solitary and shock waves in dense quantum plasmas whose constituents are electrons, positrons, and positive ions are investigated. We assume that ion velocity is weakly relativistic and also the effects of kinematic viscosity among the plasma constituents is considered. By using the reductive perturbation method, the Korteweg–deVries–Burger (KdV-B) equation is derived. Keywords—Ion...
متن کاملScattering of Regularized-long-wave Solitary Waves
The Lagrangian density for the regularized-long-wave equation (also known as the BBM equation) is presented. Using the trial function technique, ordinary differential equations that describe the time dependence of the position of the peaks, amplitudes, and widths for the collision of two solitary waves are obtained. These equations are analyzed in the Born and “equal-width” approximations and c...
