Involuntary Disclosures and Stakeholder-Initiated Communication on Social Media

This study explores firm responses to stakeholder-initiated involuntary disclosures, which are disclosures made by stakeholders about an organization but against the will of managers, and subsequent stakeholder reactions. We analyzed 134,977 Twitter replies from seven companies identify their corporate social responsibility (CSR) find that demonstrate different attitudes toward engagement in exchange disclosures. Whereas some communicate with stakeholders, others almost silent. When a company engages communication its is mostly one-way, mortification or dissent likely response strategy. also while generally do not continue engage communications, they respond when deny information revealed disclosure. Our results suggest on media able improve between companies.
