Investigations of High-Strength Mg–Al–Ca–Mn Alloys with a Broad Range of Ca+Al Contents

چکیده

The low mass and high specific stiffness of Mg alloys make them particularly interesting as means transportation. Due to further desirable properties, such good machinability excellent castability, have gained acceptance castings in high-volume applications, gearbox housings automotive steering wheels. However, forming processes, extrusion forging, find little no industrial use at the moment. reasons for this are their poor formability, which is reflected limited processing speeds ductility, modest mechanical performance, compared competing materials, Al high-strength steels. Much research being conducted worldwide on alloys, most rely levels rare earths, making these materials both ecologically economically questionable. Here, it shown that yield strengths (>300 MPa) can be achieved Mg–Al–Ca system while maintaining using only low-cost elements. investigations properties adjusted over broad alloy compositions, greatly simplifies recyclability.
