Investigation on the performance of fluted tube-in-tube gas cooler in transcritical CO2 heat pump water heater

The utilization of fluted inner tube in tube-in-tube heat exchangers is an effective way to improve the transfer performance. Based on segmented model, performance a gas cooler (FTGC) transcritical CO2 pump water heater was studied this paper. simulation model validated and adopted numerically investigate effects different parameters cooler, which compared smooth (STGC) with same geometric parameters. results showed that FTGC had higher capacity most conditions. rate first increased then decreased as inlet pressure increased. temperature difference at pinch point lower than STGC. In FTGC, position mainly influenced by outlet temperatures. Regarding system COP, improvement maximum COP could be up 29.41% using STGC when 10 °C 80 °C. However, 40 °C, impaired 12.98%. Through changing designs fixed total area, temperatures were 60 highest obtained design used experiments.
