Investigation of the effect of N-Acetylcysteine on colistin mic values in Acinetobacter Baumannii strains isolated from clinical samples

Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen which colonize inpatients and cause severe infections, septic shock death. With emergence of multi-drug resistant gramnegative species being effective in A. colistin becomes a treatment option again. N-acetylcysteine (NAC), mucolitic agent used commonly lower respiratory tract infections especially patients who have cronic disorders like Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. In this study we aim to investigate the effect NAC, added tratment regime, on MIC values baumanni tratment. Fifty A.baumannii isolates were included study. The identified by automated identification system. broth microdilution method, investigated compared (minimum inhibitory concentration) NAC+Colistin combination. Colistin MIC50 value 0.25 μg/mL MİK90 1 μg/mL, combination μg/mL. screening for effectiveness clinical drugs may provide strategy improve outcomes reduce hospitalization days.
