Investigation of Reciprocal Cross Effects in F2 Nellore–Angus Calves
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objectives of this study were to analyze calf performance traits and sex ratio frequencies in reciprocal Bos indicus–Bos taurus F2 Nellore–Angus calves (n = 539). produced using Angus-sired (AN) Nellore-sired (NA) F1 sires dams, resulting four cross types. Calf weight analyzed mixed models. Deviations from 50% ratios tested against expected binomial thresholds. Dam type influenced Julian birth date (p < 0.05) with AN cows born 5 6 days earlier than NA cows. Sire dam affected parents approximately 2.5 kg heavier those parents; weaning did not differ for parent type. However, an interaction between sire types 0.038) where x 8 lighter other crosses. distribution at 0.036) 0.026) producing over 66% male calves. These results suggest differences due parental line descent typically observed among crosses can persist subsequent generations.

Production characters of straightbred, F1 and F2 cows: birth and weaning characters of terminal-cross calves.
Records of 2,449 births and 2,120 weanings of terminal-cross calves were used to characterize maternal productivity of first- and second-generation cows from a diallel of Angus, Brahman, Hereford, Holstein and Jersey when mated to third-breed sires. Third- and later-parity cows were randomly assigned after each parturition to Charolais and Red Poll bulls in multiple-sire pastures. Calves were w...

Heritabilities and genetic correlations for reproductive traits in an F2 reciprocal cross chicken population.
Studies estimating genetic parameters for reproductive traits in chickens can be useful for understanding and improvement of their genetic architecture. A total of 1276 observations of fertility (FERT), hatchability of fertile eggs (HFE) and hatchability of total eggs (HTE) were used to estimate the genetic and phenotypic parameters of 467 females from an F2 population generated by reciprocal c...

An investigation of the effects of reciprocal peer tutoring
This study investigated the effects of reciprocal peer tutoring (RPT) on student achievement, motivation, and attitudes. Four sections of an educational technology course were randomly assigned to one RPT and one non-RPT group. Participants in the RPT group were then randomly assigned to groups to tutor and support each other while participants in the non-RPT group worked individually. The resu...
