چکیده
The Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) concept is a rapidly evolving Generation IV design that has recently attracted favorable attention due to the potential for reducing waste generation, realizing passive safety features, and seizing on opportunity cost effective economics. A specific novel micro-MSR, natural circulation, battery involves placing all primary components within single reactor vessel containment without need of forced pumping. This small modular, integral presents savings while producing safety, reliable, transportable carbon-free power decades. investigation evaluates neutron noise induced by density flow fluctuations in circulation MSR being developed at University Idaho. study finds numerical solutions one-dimensional, one-group, coupled diffusion equations bare, homogeneous core, flux delayed precursor concentration core fuel salt perturbation sources. Noise analysis shows both point kinetic space-dependent behavior present despite size, low-flow, closely-coupled nature concept. Analysis low convective system results typically representative larger forced-circulation system. techniques may also be useful diagnostics as non-invasive, low-cost radiological option traditional monitoring schemes.

Effect of Length-scale Parameter on Pull-in Voltage and Natural Frequency of a Micro-plate
This paper deals with the effect of the intrinsic material length-scale parameter on the stability and natural frequency of a rectangular micro-plate for two different cases; fully clamped and fully simply supported. A variational formulation based on Hamilton’s principle and the modified couple stress theory is used to obtain the nonlinear governing equation of a micro-plate incorporating the ...

This report describes three 2400-MW(t) reference point designs for the moltencoolant gas cycle (MCGC), based on the current power conversion unit (PCU) designs for the GT-MHR. A very-high-temperature helium cycle with a 900°C turbine inlet temperature achieves a thermodynamic efficiency of 54% and net electric output of 1300 MW(e), while a low-temperature helium cycle with a 600°C turbine inlet...

The hybrid energy storage system consists of a fuel cell, ultracapacitor and battery with associated DC/DC and DC/AC converters. The energy management strategies employed are the state machine control strategy, fuzzy frequency/logic decoupling strategy, minimization strate...
متن کاملMolten-salt Reactor Chemistry
This document summarizes the large program of chemical research and development which led to selection of fuel and coolant compositions for the Molten-Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) and for subsequent reactors of this type. Chemical behavior of the LiF-BeFrZrFrUF4 fuel mixture and behavior of fission products during power operation of MSRE are presented. A discussion of the chemical reactions w...
متن کاملInherent structure of a molten salt
We calculated the inherent structure of a model melt of zinc ~II! bromide over a wide range of densities. Stable, metastable, and unstable branches were obtained for the zero temperature pressure–volume isotherm of the inherent structure. The pressure–volume isotherm, the void distribution, and the structure factor were used to identify the spinodal, independent of any model equation of state. ...
