Investigation of Microscale Periodic Ni-Mg-Ni-Mg Film Structures as Metal-Hydride Hydrogen Accumulators

Here, the authors report results of their study on key characteristics microscale periodic Ni-Mg-Ni-Mg film structures as metal-hydride hydrogen accumulators, namely, microstructure, phase state, operation temperatures and rate sorption/desorption processes, complete reversible mass content hydrogen, enthalpy metal hydrides’ phase-formation. The has shown that hydride-formation films can be saturated with up to 7.0–7.5 wt.% at pressures 30 atm 200–250 °C, a amount stored 3.4 during its desorption pressure 1 250–300 °C phase-formation in range 19.8–46.7 kJ/mol H2 depending nickel (the thickness layer). Structural constructive schemes are proposed for accumulators various applications power industry.
