Marching schemes for inverse acoustic scattering problems
Since supp f ⊂ Ω, uθ satisfies the plain Helmholtz equation with constant wavenumber outside of Ω, the radiation condition and uθ|∂Ω = gθ. So by solving the exterior problem of the Helmholtz equation (analytically if Ω is a circle), uθ can be computed everywhere outside of Ω without prior knowledge of f . In particular, we can compute h = ∂uθ ∂ν on ∂Ω. Thus, our original problem can be rewritte...

A New Inexact Inverse Subspace Iteration for Generalized Eigenvalue Problems
In this paper, we represent an inexact inverse subspace iteration method for computing a few eigenpairs of the generalized eigenvalue problem Ax = Bx [Q. Ye and P. Zhang, Inexact inverse subspace iteration for generalized eigenvalue problems, Linear Algebra and its Application, 434 (2011) 1697-1715 ]. In particular, the linear convergence property of the inverse subspace iteration is preserved.

Tomography using CT scans and MRI scans is now well-known as a medical diagnostic tool which allows for detection of tumors and other abnormalities in a noninvasive way, providing very detailed images of the inside of the body using low dosage X-rays and magnetic fields. They have both also been used for determination of material defects in moderate size objects. In medical and other applicatio...
متن کاملInverse Problems in Power Systems
Large disturbances in power systems often initiate complex interactions between continuous dynamics and discrete events. Such behaviour can be modeled in a systematic way by a set of differential-algebraic equations, modified to incorporate impulse (state reset) action and constraint switching. The paper presents a practical object-oriented approach to implementing the DAIS model. The systemati...
