Inulin extraction from common inulin-containing plant sources

چکیده

Currently there is a growing interest from the food industry in obtaining inulin for its possible use elaboration of functional foods. A set optimum extraction conditions was developed recovery plus fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) several common inulin-containing plant sources, like chicory roots (Cichorium intybus L.) and Jerusalem artichoke tubers (Helianthus tuberosus L.), as well novel sources globe inflorescence (Cynara cardunculus by-product. Optimal temperature (60−80 °C), time (20−60 min) solvent to solid ratio (10−40 mL/g) were estimated order maximize FOS by using response surface methodology (RSM) with Box-Behnken design. Inulin colorimetrically difference between total carbohydrate reducing sugar contents optimization. Moreover, profile low molecular weight carbohydrates studied optimized extracts HPLC. raw samples optimal further characterized Fourier Transformed Infrared spectroscopy. According model, depended on source achieved at 27.8–37.4 mL/g, 62−80 °C variable 22−60 min. The highest root (70.5 g/100 g dry weight) tuber (81.1 weight), lowest ones attained by-product (4.2 g). Nevertheless, high availability cost would support this an alternative valuable industry. At same their reuse potential prebiotic ingredients contribute circular economy.

Effect of inulin extracts or inulin-containing plant supplement on blood lipid indices and fatty acid profile in fattener tissues.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of inulin or dandelion, chicory and Jerusalem artichoke powder on lipid indices and fatty acid profile in fattener tissues. The experiment involved 120 crossbred pigs (PL x PLW) x Duroc with an initial body weight of 25.0 +/- 0.5 kg. Animals were assigned into 6 groups. A diet for group I (control) did not comprise an inulin additive, group ...

(FOS) from inulin and applications

Inulin is a labile polyfructose polymer found in many sources as chicory, artichoke and dahlia roots. It ́s derived FOS (Fructo-OligoSaccharides) are produced using endo-inulinases or alternatively with less expensive and safe catalysts such as phosphoric and citric acids with good yields. Inulin and FOS deserve an important role against some diseases as colon cancer because can be selectively f...

Preparation of Inulin from Chicory Roots

Inulin has immense applications in health and nutrition as well as in food industries. Inulin is isolated from chicory roots by differential precipitation with ethanol (0-20, 20-40 and 40-60 per cent) from the aqueous extract of sun-dried roots, by melting the frozen chicory root extract and by removing the oligo-fructosachharides from chicory roots with 20 per cent ethanol. Different inulin pr...
