Introgression of pre-harvest sprouting resistance from hexaploid wheat into high yielding durum wheat germplasm

چکیده

Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is a critical factor affecting wheat producing regions characterized by rainfall and high humidity combined with cool temperatures at harvest. This phenomenon particularly important in durum (Triticum L.), which generally susceptible to PHS, contrast common aestivum L.) expresses better resistance. The transfer of PHS from hexaploid into tetraploid germplasm one option for genetic improvement, because the two species share related sub-genomes. In present study, through interspecific hybridization modified backcross approaches, we developed experimental lines that showed greater resistance than recurrent parent, some expressing performance resistant donor. introgression did not negatively impact additional traits background several derived expressed superior grain yield quality when compared parent. These represent promising resource development new cultivars. Our results demonstrate can be transferred improve germplasm.

Genetic structure of Argentinean hexaploid wheat germplasm

The identification of genetically homogeneous groups of individuals is an ancient issue in population genetics and in the case of crops like wheat, it can be valuable information for breeding programs, genetic mapping and germplasm resources. In this work we determined the genetic structure of a set of 102 Argentinean bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) elite cultivars using 38 biochemical and m...

Genome-Wide Association Study for Pre-harvest Sprouting Resistance in a Large Germplasm Collection of Chinese Wheat Landraces

Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is mainly caused by the breaking of seed dormancy in high rainfall regions, which leads to huge economic losses in wheat. In this study, we evaluated 717 Chinese wheat landraces for PHS resistance and carried out genome-wide association studies (GWAS) using to 9,740 DArT-seq and 178,803 SNP markers. Landraces were grown across six environments in China and germinatio...

Improving preharvest sprouting resistance in durum wheat with bread wheat genes

Preharvest sprouting (PHS) of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum (Desf.) Husn.) is an important problem in Japan, where the rainy season overlaps with the harvest season. Since there are few PHS-resistant genetic resources in durum wheat, we introduced an R-gene for red seeds, the MFT gene, and the QPhs-5AL QTL, all of which are associated with PHS resistance, into durum wheat from a PHS...

Reprogramming of Seed Metabolism Facilitates Pre-harvest Sprouting Resistance of Wheat

Pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) is a worldwide problem for wheat production and transgene antisense-thioredoxin-s (anti-trx-s) facilitates outstanding resistance. To understand the molecular details of PHS resistance, we analyzed the metabonomes of the transgenic and wild-type (control) wheat seeds at various stages using NMR and GC-FID/MS. 60 metabolites were dominant in these seeds including suga...

Improving yield and quality traits of durum wheat by introgressing chromosome segments from hexaploid wheat.

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum durum; 2n = 4x = 28; genome AABB) has long been an important food resource for human diets. The projected increase of the world's population to 9.1 billion by 2050 has highlighted the importance and urgency for improving the yield and quality performance of durum wheat. A backcrossed population, which was derived from the durum wheat variety 'Bellaroi' (recurrent ...
