چکیده
Background: To study the prevalence of significant Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion (IPP) in patients presenting with acute urinary retention (AUR) due to Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and correlation between intravesical protrusion volume. Methods: We assessed 68 men ages 45 85 who presented retention. Initial assessment included detailed clinical history, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) Quality Life assessments a transabdominal ultrasonogram measure Volume (PV) (IPP). The degree IPP was determined by distance from tip circumference bladder at base prostate gland. Patients >10 mm were taken have those ≤10 be insignificant. Statistical analysis descriptive Pearson’s coefficient. Results: Of our resented AUR, 29 (42.9%) had IPP. Mean 9.81mm standard deviation 5.41 mm. All severe IPPS grade. statistically volume. Conclusions: as ultrasound can used direct appropriate more aggressive treatment strategies like surgery.

Predicting outcome of trial of voiding without catheter in acute urinary retention with intravesical prostatic protrusion.
BACKGROUND Acute urinary retention (AUR) is one of the most serious complications of benign prostatic hypertrophy. This study was done to predict the outcome of trial of voiding without catheter (TWOC) in patients with AUR with intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) detected on transabdominal ultrasound. Other factors such as prostatic volume and patient's age were also assessed. METHODS Pat...

The objectives of this study were to determine and compare the correlation of intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) and prostate volume (PV) with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). This study was conducted in the department of urology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, between July 2009 to September 2010. Fifty benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients w...
متن کاملRelationship between Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion and Postoperative Outcomes in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
PURPOSE To evaluate the significance of intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) for predicting postoperative outcomes in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 177 patients with a possible follow-up of at least 6 months who were treated with transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) were analyzed. We divided the patients into two groups on the basis ...
متن کاملCorrelation of Male Overactive Bladder with Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion
PURPOSE Male overactive bladder (OAB) may be caused by prostatic pathologies such as bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). Intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) has been found to correlate with BOO and acute urinary retention. We investigated the interrelation between male OAB symptoms and IPP for estimating anatomical changes to the prostate. MATERIALS AND METHODS We assessed 179 consecutive m...

INTRODUCTION The objective of this study is to determine the relationships between prostatic volume (PV) and intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) with benign prostatic obstruction (BPO). MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 408 males (aged 50 years and above) who presented with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) suggestive of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were recruited. All had Internat...
