Intrapreneurial Fit and Misfit: Enterprising Behavior, Preferred Organizational and Open Innovation Culture

In challenging times, the need for innovation is heightened and stems from employees who exhibit intrapreneurial characteristics. Not every corporate culture a suitable environment behavior. This study examines relationship between potential entrepreneurial behavior preferred type. Through principal component analysis of sample 1056 university students, four components enterprising (and roles) are found: Planning on results (project manager); Bearing burden (pressure bearer); Innovating others (innovating showstopper); Learning mistakes (experimental learner). Using Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument, linear regression was conducted types against components. A combination strong inverse direct relationships found these (clan, market, adhocracy, hierarchy). The findings help practitioners understand how existing will inhibit or encourage behaviors, with benefits in recruitment selection, reductions staff turnover increases potential. also indicate reconsideration employer brand when attracting intrapreneurs.
