چکیده

Abstract Anagyrus lopezi is a specialist parasitoid was introduced to Indonesia in 2014 control cassava mealybug, Phenacoccus manihoti. Plesiochrysa ramburi and Cryptolaemus montrouzieri are generalist predator insects associated with the mealybug. Intraguild predation crucial competition an insect community. The study objective investigate interference of both predators on healthy mealybug (unparasitized) or parasitized by A. (mealybug which containing larvae 1-, 3-, 8-, 14-day old). Experiments were carried out non-choice test (served only one unparasitized specific age) choice (unparasitized age together) laboratory under controlled environmental conditions. Both species able fed mealybugs three different (1-, 8- day-old), but discriminated against old (hardened mummies). Interaction between showed antagonistic interaction type. We recommended should be released field at beginning time when population still low could continued release high.

Generalist predators disrupt parasitoid aphid control by direct and coincidental intraguild predation.

Generalist predators and parasitoids are considered to be important regulators of aphids. The former not only feed on these pests, but might also consume parasitoids at all stages of development. This direct or coincidental interference affects the natural control of aphids, the scale of which is largely unknown, and it has rarely been examined under natural conditions. Here, molecular diagnost...

Predatory Potential of Chrysoperla carnea and Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Larvae on Different Stages of the Mealybug, Phenacoccus solenopsis: A Threat to Cotton in South Asia

The outbreaks of mealybug, Phenacoccus solenopsis Tinsley (Homoptera: Pseudococcidae), have created problems to cotton crops in South Asia in the recent years. To control this menace, predatory potential of Chrysoperla carnea and Cryptolaemus montrouzieri larvae were investigated under laboratory conditions (27 ± 5° C and 65 ± 5% RH). The experiments were conducted in no choice (only first, sec...

The potential distribution of cassava mealybug (Phenacoccus manihoti), a threat to food security for the poor

The cassava mealybug is a clear and present threat to the food security and livelihoods of some of the world's most impoverished citizens. Niche models, such as CLIMEX, are useful tools to indicate where and when such threats may extend, and can assist with planning for biosecurity and the management of pest invasions. They can also contribute to bioeconomic analyses that underpin the allocatio...
