چکیده
Abstract Background and aim Intracranial calcifications (ICs) occur when metals such as calcium or iron accumulate in blood vessels, glands other structures related to the brain. They can be physiological pathological. Currently, most sensitive method for imaging IC is cranial computed tomography (CT). The of this retrospective study was evaluate ICs co-existence them by CT. Patients methods 1,000 CT scans patients were retrospectively evaluated. Pineal calcification, choroid plexus habenular petroclinoid ligament basal ganglia falx cerebri tentorium cerebelli calcification evaluated recorded. Results Of patients, 65.7% had IC. incidence different sites follows: pineal (37.7%), (52.1%), (33.5%), (21.8%), (0.6%), (6.2%) (0.2%). significantly higher females than males ( P < 0.05). Pineal, plexus, increased with age. Tentorium Cerebelli did not differ between age groups > Conclusions may a common finding encountered incidentally on which gold standard them. It important distinguish from pathological ones, differentiation lesions calcifications.

Intracranial physiological calcifications in adults on computed tomography in Tabriz, Iran.
Intracranial physiological calcifications are unaccompanied by any evidence of disease and have no demonstrable pathological cause. They are often due to calcium and sometimes iron deposition in the blood vessels of different structures of the brain. Computed tomography (CT) is the most sensitive means of detection of these calcifications. The aim of this study was the assessment of intracrania...

OBJECTIVE Intracranial calcifications underlie certain brain diseases which may be de novo or systemic. But calcifications un-connected to pathologies are classified physiological. AIM To evaluate physiological intracranial calcifications in Douala with establishment of earliest age range of detection. متن کاملComputed tomography of intracranial gangliogliomas.
Thirteen patients with pathologically proven gangliogliomas were studied radiographically. The computed tomographic (CT) features of these 13 lesions and the other 35 cases in the literature were analyzed. Although the CT appearance of gangliogliomas was varied, certain characteristics were noted. The most common location was in the cerebral hemispheres, most often the temporal lobe. At least p...
متن کاملAge-related change in calcifications in the thoracic aorta: a study with computed tomography.
Calcifications in the thoracic aorta at the level of the 11th and the 12th thoracic vertebrae in 592 men and 333 women were studied using computed tomography. The ages ranged from 40 to 88 years. Incidence of calcification increased proportionally to the advancing age from the forties to the eighties in men, and from the fifties to the seventies in women: incidence of calcification (%) = 2.41 X...
متن کاملIncidental renal artery calcifications: a study of 350 consecutive abdominal computed tomography scans.
BACKGROUND Calcifications in arteries are thought to represent atherosclerosis. METHODS Consecutive abdominal tomographic scans performed during a 4-month period were evaluated and assessed for renal artery calcifications (RAC). Scans that showed calcifications were evaluated for renal artery narrowing and for various characteristics of the atherosclerotic plaque. RESULTS Of 350 consecutive...
