Intracranial Hemorrhage Induced Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report

نویسندگان

چکیده

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy or "broken heart syndrome," is a reversible cardiac disorder characterized by left ventricular dysfunction without significant obstructive coronary artery disease. It classically secondary to emotional stress in postmenopausal women but can be physical stress. This report presents unique case of takotsubo induced intracranial hemorrhage an 80-year-old female who presented with syncope.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy secondary to intracranial hemorrhage

Patients suffering from aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage often present with electrocardiogram (ECG) abnormalities that mimic cardiac ischemia, but documented left ventricular regional wall-motion dysfunction has rarely been reported. This report is intended to raise the awareness of possible ECG changes secondary to subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). We cared for a 55-year-old female with an acut...

A case of intracranial hemorrhage causing stress-induced cardiomyopathy.

The classic finding of Takotsubo's cardiomyopathy is left ventricular systolic dysfunction with echocardiographic evidence of apical ballooning in the absence of significant coronary disease. Intracranial hemorrhage is a known cause for stress-induced cardiomyopathy with a similar echocardiographic presentation. This diagnostic finding suggests a similar pathophysiologic mechanism between neuro...

Epilepsy and takotsubo cardiomyopathy: a case report.

A 60-year-old woman with a history of symptomatic seizures secondary to a subarachnoid hemorrhage was admitted to hospital because of a generalized seizure. The following day, her electrocardiogram showed negative T waves in II, III, (a)V(F), and V(2-6), and the echocardiogram showed an impaired left ventricular ejection fraction with ventricular apical akinesia. Head magnetic resonance imaging...

Acute Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Cardiac Abnormalities: Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy or Neurogenic Stunned Myocardium? a case report

INTRODUCTION Cardiac abnormalities can be seen with subarachnoid hemorrhage. To date, there have been isolated case reports of transient left ventricular apical ballooning cardiomyopathy, also known as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in patients suffering from subarachnoid hemorrhage. CASE PRESENTATION An adult female was brought to the emergency department with somnolence. A 3 x 3 mm ruptured basil...

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in a patient with ileus: a case report

BACKGROUND Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) is a form of stress-induced cardiomyopathy featured by the dilatation of the apex of the left ventricle during systole. Whereas the pathogenesis of this disorder is not well understood, it usually occurs after an emotional or physical stress such as acute asthma, surgery, chemotherapy, and stroke. However, its occurrence in ileus patients is rarely repo...
