چکیده
Objectives: To determine the mean change in pain and mouth opening after intra-articular corticosteroid injection mixed with local anesthetic patients of temporomandibular joint internalderangement (disc displacement without reduction).Materials Methods: A Quasi-experimental study was conducted at Oral MaxillofacialSurgery Department, Armed Forces Institute Dentistry (AFID), Rawalpindi; from February2016 to December 2019. Patients either gender, aged between 16-70 years, presenting withdisc reduction were included study. Intra-articular corticosteroids administered into aff ected joint. Pin using a Visualanalog scale (VAS) maximum (MMO)using vernier caliper measuredin every patient before one week injection. Data entered thestatistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 22 analysis. Results: total 107 age 30.5 ±6.92 years(range 17 42 years). The pre-injection VAS score 6.29±1.06 which decreasedsignifi cantly 3.46±1.07at following (p=<0.001) decreaseof 2.83±1.03. This improvement signifi cant across all age, educational occupational groups. MMO 28.76±4.20 whichincreased 38.89±3.88at meanincrease 10.0±3.33.

Accuracy Rate of Clinical Diagnosis of Disc Displacement without Reduction in Temporomandibular Joint Using MRI
Introduction: Internal derangement (ID) of TMJ is the most common type of temporomandibular disorders after muscle disorders and includes all disorders related to incoordination and dislocation of disc and condyle. Anterior disc displacement without reduction or closed lock will happen if the disc or condyle displaces severely or if the disc traps in the space in front of the condyle accompanie...
متن کاملTemporomandibular joint loads in subjects with and without disc displacement
The likelihood of development of degenerative joint disease (DJD) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is related to the integrity of the TMJ disc. Predilection for mechanical failure of the TMJ disc may reflect inter-individual differences in TMJ loads. Nine females and eight males in each of normal TMJ disc position and bilateral disc displacement diagnostic groups consented to participate in...
متن کاملInternal Derangement of Temporomandibular Joint - A Review
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a complex, sensitive, and highly mobile joint. Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a class of degenerative musculoskeletal conditions associated with morphologic and functional deformities that affect up to 25% of the population. The most frequent structural (as opposed to muscular) cause of TMD are Internal derangement , which involves progressive slipping a ...
متن کاملRadiological characteristics of osteoarthritis of temporomandibular joint without disc displacement
Background and Purpose: Radiological findings were compared between the patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and asymptomatic volunteers. Materials and Methods: OA was diagnosed in 16 patients (mean age 46.9, 69% women) with disc displacement. A second group consisted of 20 selected dental school students without any clinical signs or history of temporomandibular j...
متن کامل20-year follow-up study of disc repositioning surgery for temporomandibular joint internal derangement.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to assess the outcomes of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disc repositioning as a surgical treatment for TMJ internal derangement (ID). MATERIALS AND METHODS By retrospective chart review, all patients who had TMJ disc repositioning for treatment of TMJ ID from 1984 to 1990 were identified. Attempts were made to locate these patients, and they were sent a T...
