چکیده
Longline fishery targeting tunas and tuna-like species is known to produce a significant amount of catch not only for the target species, but also ecologically related like sharks, marine turtles, sea birds mammals. Recognizing this seriousness, tuna regional fisheries management organizations (t-RFMOs) have established conservation measures (CMMs) reduce bycatch and/or interaction with ecosystem vulnerable including turtles are obliged implement mitigation guidelines on safe release their member countries. Along development strengthening those measures, various case studies been conducting verify effectiveness species. This study examines background progress developing CMMs t-RFMOs regulation programs United States which recently become one main issues, reviews turtle find out reducing rate impacts fisheries. In order respond consultation process certification determination States, it was confirmed current status implementation conducted by Korean longline based scientific observer data survey captains. Even though all fleets belong deep-set (100–300 m), subject obligation they voluntarily implementing both use circle hook whole finfish bait, regardless RFMO’s Convention area operate. And national regulatory prevention adopted Republic Korea seems be comparable in that Stated. However, needs take preemptive establishing sustainable fisheries, protection environment, as stronger requests anticipated made international community matter.

متن کاملRisk Factors for Seabird Bycatch in a Pelagic Longline Tuna Fishery
Capture in global pelagic longline fisheries threatens the viability of some seabird populations. The Hawaii longline tuna fishery annually catches hundreds of seabirds, primarily Laysan (Phoebastria immutabilis) and black-footed (P. nigripes) albatrosses. Since seabird regulations were introduced in 2001, the seabird catch rate has declined 74%. However, over the past decade, seabird catch lev...

متن کاملA Poisson and negative binomial regression model of sea turtle interactions in Hawaii’s longline fishery
Sea turtle interactions with the longline fishery in Hawaii have become a serious concern in recent years. Various measures, including a swordfish harvest ban, have been adopted to protect sea turtles. This study explores the factors and degree of sea turtle interactions with Hawaii’s pelagic longline fishery, i.e. the production of undesirable outputs in the pursuit of an economic activity, in...
