Interface Roughening in Two Dimensions

چکیده
Roughening of interfaces implies the divergence interface width $w$ with system size $L$. For two-dimensional systems $w^2$ is linear in In framework a detailed capillary wave approximation and statistical field theory we derive an expression for asymptotic behaviour $w^2$, which differs from results literature. It confirmed by Monte Carlo simulations.

متن کاملInterface dynamics and kinetic roughening in fractals.
We consider the dynamics and kinetic roughening of single-valued interfaces in two-dimensional fractal media. Assuming that the local height difference distribution function of the fronts obeys Levý statistics with a well-defined power-law decay exponent, we derive analytic expressions for the local scaling exponents. We also show that the kinetic roughening of the interfaces displays anomalous...

Limited dispersal distance generates spatial aggregation. Intraspecific interactions are then concentrated within clusters, and between-species interactions occur near cluster boundaries. Spread of a locally dispersing invader can become motion of an interface between the invading and resident species, and spatial competition will produce variation in the extent of invasive advance along the in...
متن کاملSpatial competition: roughening of the ecological interface
Limited dispersal distance, whether due to vegetative growth or localized 2 reproduction, generates spatial clustering. Many invasive plants, in particular, propagate clonally and aggregate spatially. Local dispersal concentrates intraspecific interactions 4 within clusters, while most between-species interactions occur near cluster boundaries. Spread of a spatially clustered, invasive plant th...
متن کاملKinetic roughening in growth models with diffusion in higher dimensions
We present results of numerical simulations of kinetic roughening for a growth model with surface diffusion (the Wolf-Villain model) in 3+1 and 4+1 dimensions using lattices of a linear size up to L=64 in 3+1 D and L=32 in 4+1 D. The effective exponents calculated both from the surface width and from the height–height correlation function are much larger than those expected based on results in ...
