Interactions between temperature and wheat head wetting duration on fusarium head blight intensity

نویسندگان

چکیده

ABSTRACT In experiments conducted in growth chambers with the susceptible wheat cultivar BR 23, interactions between five temperatures (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30°C) eleven wetting periods were assessed for fusarium head blight (FHB) intensity. Each temperature consisted of one experiment hours corresponded to treatments. The disease occurred even at 10ºC, minimum tested temperature, maximum incidence was 25oC, both after 50h wetting. Variations FHB intensity explained by Beta generalized model, spike duration Gompertz model. Disease modeled according wetness duration. resulting equation represents a description response spikelet combined effects Since infection requires long period, its origin may not be dew but rain, which suggests fungicide application before occurrence predicted rain during predisposition period.

Effects of Fusarium Head Blight on Wheat Grain and Malt Infected by Fusarium culmorum

Fusarium head blight is a destructive disease of cereals worldwide. The aim of this research was to study the effect of heavy Fusarium infection with Fusarium culmorum and biosynthesis of mycotoxins on different wheat varieties during malting by setting up field trials with control and Fusarium-inoculated treatments at the Agricultural Institute Osijek. The highest occurrence of Fusarium mycoto...

Phylogeny and genetic diversity of Fusarium graminearum species complex associated with Fusarium head blight of wheat in Moghan plain (Iran)

Thirty-seven isolates of Fusarium graminearum species complexobtained from wheat heads with Fusarium head blight symptoms were selected and used for phylogenetic studies. They were collected from different localities of Moghan plain (Ardebil province, Iran). Partial sequences of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF), putative reductase (RED) and UTP-ammonia ligase (URA) genes were amplifi...

Mutual Exclusion between Fungal Species of the Fusarium Head Blight Complex in a Wheat Spike.

Fusarium head blight (FHB) is one of the most damaging diseases of wheat. FHB is caused by a species complex that includes two genera of Ascomycetes: Microdochium and Fusarium. Fusarium graminearum, Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium poae, and Microdochium nivale are among the most common FHB species in Europe and were chosen for these experiments. Field studies and surveys show that two or more speci...

Fusarium head blight and associated mycotoxin occurrence on winter wheat in Luxembourg in 2007/2008.

Fusarium head blight (FHB) is among the major causes of reduced quality in winter wheat and its products. In addition, the causal fungi produce a variety of toxins. A relatively high FHB infection rate in winter wheat was observed in 2007 and 2008 in Luxembourg. A fusariotoxin survey was carried out in 17 different geographical locations. Three groups of Fusarium mycotoxins (trichothecenes A an...
