Interaction mechanism between cellobiose and imidazolium halide-based ionic liquids

Ionic liquids (ILs) are excellent solvents for cellulose, but the dissolution mechanism is not deeply understood. In present study, cellobiose was used as a model of and imidazolium halide-based ILs with same cation 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium (Bmim+) including BmimCl, BmimBr, BmimI were solvents. The interaction between analyzed by carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR). results showed that strength hydrogen bonds formed hydroxyl groups greatly affected position electro-negativity size anions. Compared secondary alcoholic groups, primary (C6–OH C12–OH) on glucopyranose rings more easily ILs. protons varied positions protons. formation halogen anions main reason in ability three to form followed order: BmimCl > BmimBr BmimI.
