Inter Simple Sequence Repeat-Based Genetic Divergence and Varietal Identification of Banana in Pakistan

Banana is one of the major cash and fruit crops Pakistan. The lack information concerning genetic diversity purity within locally cultivated banana varieties a bottleneck in improving its genetics. Due to existence narrow background, it’s quite important find genomic variations varieties. DNA marker-based techniques have been used effectively characterize In current study, Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) markers were cultivars assess 14 local grown Out 45 primers used, 40 revealed reproducible results produced 121 polymorphic bands, which contributed ratio 47.87 polymorphism. ISSR UBC-835 UBC-834 possessed highest PIC ranged between (86–88%) varieties, while lowest (46%) was detected case UBC−857 marker with (100–1500 bp) PCR product size. Pairwise Jaccard’s similarity coefficient values also calculated, these from 0.56–0.88. Multivariate analysis divided into two distinct groups—A B respectively—and furthermore subgroups, clusters, sub−clusters. Our indicated that at molecular level, group—A found be 66% similar whereas group 88% similar. Nei’s diversity, PCA analysis, minimum spanning tree depicted Fenjiao, Dajiao, NIGAB-2 as most diverse members compared all other three populations. 11 uniquely identified by 54 bands different sizes. Some like NIGAB-3 only band others tagged multiple unique bands. future, this study will utilized establish molecular-based protocol for identification
