Intelligent and Scalable Air Quality Monitoring With 5G Edge

Air pollution introduces a major challenge for societies, where it leads to the premature deaths of millions people each year globally. Massive deployment air quality sensing devices and data analysis resultant will pave way development real-time intelligent applications services, e.g., minimization exposure poor either on an individual or city scale. 5G edge computing supports dense deployments sensors at high resolution with ubiquitous connectivity, bandwidth, high-speed gigabit connections, ultralow latency analysis. This article conceptualizes AI-powered scalable monitoring presents two systems calibrating low-cost image processing pictures captured by hyperspectral cameras better detect quality. We develop deploy different AI algorithms in these testbed perform detailed analytics regarding 1) performance 2) required communication computation resources.
