Integrated Marine Biogas: A Promising Approach towards Sustainability

Fossil fuel depletion, climate change, and increased global energy demands are the driving forces to find alternative sources of energy. Marine-based biorefinery has been recently discussed as a promising route mitigate environmental challenges, enhance recovery, provide potential source for value-added products. Anaerobic digestion is technology that can convert organic compounds marine ecosystems into biogas. To date, comprehensive review incorporating integrated biogas effective approaches seaweed digestibility production from resources not reported. Thus, present aims explore comprehensively other production. The basics challenges elucidated. impact biochemical composition on microbial communities involved in anaerobic discussed. Utilization different techniques such pretreatment, co-digestion, sequential extraction biomass yield effect inhibitors presented. Specifically, this article evaluates co-digestion with feedstocks or liquid biowastes.
