Integrated Distribution Management System: Architecture, Functions, and Application in China

As massive distributed energy resources (DERs) are integrated into distribution networks (DNs) and the automation facilities widely deployed, DNs evolving to active (ADNs). This paper introduces architecture main function modules of an management system (IDMS) its applications in China. consists three subsystems, including real-time operation control (OCS), outage (OMS), operator training simulator (OTS). The OCS has a hierarchical with levels, local controller for DER clusters, optimization incorporated multi-clusters, coordination transmission & (T&D) networks. OMS is developed based on geographical information (GIS) coordinated OCS. While OTS, both ADN host network (TN) simulated make simulation results more credible. functions subsystems their interaction data flows described some typical application scenarios also presented.
