Pion–pion scattering at low energy
We present technical details of the evaluation of the elastic ππ scattering amplitude to two loops in chiral perturbation theory. In particular, we elaborate on the renormalization procedure at the two–loop order and on the evaluation of the relevant Feynman diagrams that can all be expressed in terms of elementary functions. For the sake of clarity, we discuss these matters both in the N–compo...
متن کاملHigh-energy pion-nucleus elastic scattering.
We investigate theoretical approaches to pion–nucleus elastic scattering at high energies (300 ≤ Tπ ≤ 1 GeV). A “model–exact” calculation of the lowest–order microscopic optical model, carried out in momentum space and including the full Fermi averaging integration, a realistic off–shell pion–nucleon scattering amplitude and fully covariant kinematics, is used to calibrate a much simpler theory...
متن کاملPion - Pion Scattering Information
We show how the reaction e-e’+ n-n’y can be used to study the dipion system in states of even charge conjugation (and even angular momentum). In particular, its utility for experimentally investigating an I = 0, J = 0 resonance (e-meson) is discussed in detail. (Submitted to Phys. Rev. ) * Work supported by the U. S. متن کاملLow-energy pion-nucleon scattering
An analysis of low-energy charged pion-nucleon data from recent pp experiments is presented. From the scattering lengths and the Goldberger-Miyazawa-Oehme ~GMO! sum rule we find a value of the pion-nucleon coupling constant of f 50.075660.0007. We also find, contrary to most previous analyses, that the scattering volumes for the P31 and P13 partial waves are equal, within errors, corresponding ...
متن کاملRegge Analysis of Pion-pion (and Pion-kaon) Scattering for Energy S
We perform a detailed Regge analysis of NN , πN and ππ scattering. From it, we find expressions that represent the ππ scattering amplitudes with an accuracy of a few percent, for exchange of isospin zero, and ∼ 15% for exchange of isospin 1, and this for energies s > 1.4GeV and for momentum transfers |t| < ∼ 0.4GeV. These Regge formulas are perfectly compatible with the low energy (s ∼ 1.4GeV) ...
