Insights on biodiesel blends with alkanol solvents

Thermophysical properties of mixtures fatty acid esters with alkanols were measured in the whole composition range as a function temperature for understanding features biodiesel blends. Excess and mixing calculated from experimental measurements allowed to quantify analyze intermolecular forces considered systems. Likewise, molecular modelling studies using quantum chemistry classical dynamics simulations led detailed characterization these systems at nanoscopic level. The nature hydrogen bonding liquid was particularly analyzed macroscopic theoretical results. reported computational study infer relationships between additional microscopic properties, which are relevant development biodiesels. non-ideality behavior studied shows changes structuring upon mixing, largely disrupting alcohols self-association, although ester – alcohol is developed, this type interactions remarkably weaker than those alcohols. Therefore, blends may be tuned controlled through amount rooted on its effect bonding.
