چکیده

Aiming to provide navigational framework upcoming early lunar exploration missions by rovers, interests in robust and low-cost global satellite navigation systems (GNSS) around the Moon are growing more than ever before. In response, dual-satellite (LGNS) based on Multi-epoch Double-differenced Pseudorange Observation (MDPO) algorithm was proposed our earlier work. While MDPO-based LGNS can reasonably high positioning accuracy at an order of several tens meters within a one-minute observation, calculation is only available when two satellites user’s view. This limitation be overcome integrating other sensors such as inertial system (INS) compensating for positions absence GNSS signals. The main objective this research integration model INS measurements quantitatively show benefits numerical simulations. More specifically, major contributions paper three-fold: 1) mathematical INS/GNSS adopted MDPO algorithm, 2) developed simulation that combines measurements, 3) performed quantitative comparison between raw measurements.

Global navigation satellite systems

Global positioning systems first became available for private use in 1995. Since the introduction of NAVSTAR-GPS (Navigation System with Time and Ranging–Global Positioning System) and GLONASS (Globaluaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema, Global Navigation Satellite System), such systems have quickly become indispensable in a wide range of applications. Above all, GPS is used today by a lar...

Navigation Approach For Lunar Rover Based On Slip Prediction

This paper presented a method for navigation of lunar rover. This method used the real lunar data to model the virtual terrain. In addition, this method not onle considers uncertainty of sensor data, and does integrate directional slip prediction into the path planning algorithm resolving the issue of emerging higher-level behaviors such as planning a path with switch-backs up a slope. Simulati...

The ionosphere , radio navigation , and global navigation satellite systems

This article is a review of Global Navigation Satellite Systems for space scientists who are interested in how GNSS signals and observables can be used to understand ionospheric dynamics and, conversely, how ionospheric dynamics affect the operational capabilities of GPS. The most common form of GNSS is the Global Positioning System (GPS); we will first review its operating principles and then ...

Experience with rover navigation for lunar-like terrains

The lure of the Moon is strong — and humans are once again responding to the challenge. One promising, near-term scenario is to land a pair of rovers on the Moon, and to engage in a multiyear, 1000 kilometer traverse of historic sights, including Apollo 11, Surveyor 5, Ranger 8, Apollo 17 and Lunokhod 2 [2]. In this scenario, one of the rovers would be driven, returning continuous live video, w...
