Insecticidal effect of Jatropha curcas L. Oil on Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)

The study was undertaken to contribute the sustainable management of Spodoptera frugiperda Smith on maize. It aims evaluate insecticidal efficacy Jatropha curcas L. oil S. larvae. Two concentrations J. (10 and 20ml.l-1) were tested by ingestion six larval stages grouped into (L1-2 (3-5 days age); L3-4 (6-8 L5-6 (>10 age)). determined in laboratory phytosanitary protection tests maize carried out field. In laboratory, concentration 10 ml.l-1 with/without emulsifier caused a mortality rate (87-92%) at stage L1-2, (51-58%) L3-4, (57- 68%) after 72 hours ingestion.
