Innovative Higher Education Approaches for Power System Courses

Higher education plays a crucial role in modern society and emerging energy systems, due to the rising complexity of phenomena interplay among various layers (physical, cyber, social economic). To cope with this context, universities need develop new visions tools for training. Real-time simulation (RTS) is as novel effective approach analyzing power system aspects, characteristic can be effectively used courses. Hence, after presentation basics about RTS, paper will show advantages employing RTS teaching activities. Finally, two examples didactic activities involving at Politecnico di Torino presented. In fact, part both multi-disciplinary projects (where students different backgrounds face issues affecting protection control systems) course “Electrical systems safety”, where study behavior voltage transformers saturation.
