چکیده

Context. As a universally accepted definition of vortex has not yet been established, the community lacks an unambiguous and rigorous method for identifying vortices in fluid flows. Such would be useful conducting robust statistical studies on highly dynamical turbulent systems such as solar atmosphere. Aims. We aim to develop innovative automated methodology identification based local global characteristics flow, while avoiding use threshold that could potentially prevent detection weak process. Methods. present new combines rigor mathematical criteria with perspective morphological techniques. The core consists estimation center rotation every point flow presents some degree curvature its neighborhood. For this purpose, we employed Rortex criterion combined it considerations velocity field. then identified coherent vortical structures clusters estimated centers rotation. Results. demonstrate is more reliable than swirling strength vorticity extraction physical information from flows, because measures rigid-body rotational part alone biased by presence pure or intrinsic shears. show performs well context simplistic test case composed two Lamb-Oseen vortices. proposed state-of-the-art clustering algorithm build algorithm. was applied artificial multiple Lamb–Oseen vortices, random noisy background, simulated magneto-hydrodynamical Orszag-Tang test. results reliability accuracy method. Conclusions. can considered tool study (magneto)hydrodynamical By applying implemented numerical simulations observational data, comparing existing methods, seek successively improve detections and, ultimately, our knowledge motions solar, stellar, planetary atmospheres.

Random Vortex Method for Geometries with Unsolvable Schwarz-Christoffel Formula

In this research we have implemented the Random Vortex Method to calculate velocity fields of fluids inside open cavities in both turbulent and laminar flows. the Random Vortex Method is a CFD method (in both turbulent and laminar fields) which needs the Schwarz-Christoffel transformation formula to map the physical geometry into the upper half plane. In some complex geometries like the flow in...

Cost Function Modelling for Semi-automated SC, RTG and Automated and Semi-automated RMG Container Yard Operating Systems

This study analyses the concept of cost functions for semi-automated Straddle Carrier (SC), Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) and automated Rail Mounted Gantry (RMG) container yard operating cranes. It develops a generic cost based model for a pair-wise comparison, analysis and evaluation of economic efficiency and effectiveness of container yard equipment to be used for decision-making by terminal pla...

An Automated Method for Neuronal Spike Source Identification

Analysis of microelectrode recordings (MER) of extracellular neuronal activity has gained increasing interest due to potential improvements to surgical techniques involving ablation or placement of deep brain stimulators, as is common in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Critical to these procedures is the identification of different brain structures such as the globus pallidus internus (GP...
