Innovation Ecosystem Research: Emerging Trends and Future Research

The innovation ecosystem term has increasingly been attracting the interest of scholars and practitioners for fifteen years. Contrary to flourishing landscape, knowledge in this field is criticized as being fragmented. While past reviews revealed conceptual theoretical connections between other related concepts, there still a lack comprehensive appreciation intellectual structure state-of-the-art studies, hindering future research domain. To fill void, study utilized systematic literature review approach combining bibliographic coupling content analysis methods. Drawing on 136 studies reflecting core latest literature, identifies five streams current (i.e., technology innovation, platform ecosystem, regional development, conceptualization theorization, entrepreneurship innovation). Suggestions are distilled via discussion these streams. Contributions lie decoding offering targeted recommendations research.
