Injury Symmetry in Judo

Background: Each combat sport carries different risks of injury due to the specifics (including weight categories and sex) fighting techniques used according sports regulations. The purpose this study is examine symmetry in judo. Methods: Injuries recorded 195 people (93 women, 102 men) suffered during top-level judo tournaments were verified. Using European Judo Union medical questionnaire, information on injuries was obtained from each injured athlete. Results: Based analysis results, it can be concluded that are almost evenly distributed left right sides body both men women. In there 129 side (41.2%), 134 (42.8%), 50 (16.0%) middle part body. Conclusions: slightly more common side. occur at a greater rate defending maneuvers than attacking Identification monitoring who (tori or uke) which sustains an crucial important prevention. This knowledge makes possible modify existing regulations by eliminating behaviors (e.g., certain types defense) improve safety athletes participating competitions training process terms ensuring attack defense.
