چکیده
The in vitro anti-Babesia canis activities of nine essential oils were investigated. Among the tested Achillea millefolium, Eugenia caryophyllus and Citrus grandis most active (IC50 values 51.0, 60.3 61.3 μg/mL, respectively). from Abies sibirica, Rosmarinus officinalis, Eucalyptus globulus, Cinnamonum zeylanicum, Mentha piperita Pinus sylvestris less 134.3, 237.3, 239.3, 367.9, 837.5 907.3 results support concept that some oil constituents may be useful clinical management babesiosis.

Aim: A study on the clinical and biochemical parameters of Nigerian dogs experimentally infected with Babesia canis was conducted. Materials and Methods: A total of ten naive dogs of both sex and aged between 6 months to 1 year, were used for the study. They were divided into two groups of five eachA (control) and B (infected). Dogs in group B were infected with 1ml of Babesia canis positive in...

Objective: To evaluate lipoxygenase inhibitory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities of selected essential oils. Materials and Methods: Essential oils were obtained by hydro distillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus and oils composition was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Lipoxygenase inhibitory activity of essential oils was evaluated by lipoxygenase inhibition assay...
متن کاملAntibacterial activities of plant essential oils against Legionella pneumophila.
The objective of this study was to determine the antimicrobial activity of essential oils (EOs) extracted from Cinnamomum osmophloeum leaves and different tissues of Cryptomeria japonica against pathogenic Legionella pneumophila at 42 degrees C. Ten kinds of EOs were extracted by water distillation and their chemical constituents were quantified by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). ...
متن کاملCanine babesiosis in Slovenia: molecular evidence of Babesia canis canis and Babesia canis vogeli.
Canine babesiosis, caused by intraerythrocytic Babesia spp., is a tick-borne disease of worldwide importance. No information on canine babesiosis has been documented in Slovenia. Therefore, 238 dogs admitted to the Small animal clinic in Ljubljana from the years 2000 to 2002 were tested for the presence of babesial parasites in the blood. Based on clinical, microscopic and molecular investigati...

Background: Plant-derived Essential Oils (EOs) have shown remarkable antimicrobial activity against spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms isolated from food products. The objective of the current study was to determine in vitro antimicrobial effects of selected EOs against these microorganisms. Methods: Antimicrobial activity of EOs against food-borne and spoilage microorganisms was screened ...
