Infodemic and Mental Health Consequences

Since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, a tremendous amount information is spread through social media, including wrong/ misinterpreted and rumors. World Health Organization (WHO) named this mis/disinformation about pandemic as “infodemic”. In research, Scopus PubMed databases were searched with ‘infodemic’ ‘mental health’ keywords. The data gathered revealed that mental health disorders, perceptual disorders such depersonalization derealization, anxiety depressive and, also suicidal ideation, increased result infodemic. Another significant obtained was change in discourses among members disorder support groups: more negative loads hopelessness, helplessness, loneliness, even suicide increased.
