Influence of Urban Sprawl on Microclimate of Abbottabad, Pakistan

Urban centers are expanding rapidly due to quickly-increasing population which results in microclimate change lack of urban planning. Factors like degradation green areas, trees, and vegetation defining a new regime environment giving rise drinking water lowering tables. Consequently, unplanned sprawl with all its varied facets is having adverse impacts on the environment. Rapid variations some climatic factors immediate vicinity alarming need redress at war footings. This paper an endeavor present hypothesis that plays vital role impacting influencing city or area. In this research, geospatial approaches were adopted identify sprawl. Rise land surface temperature (LST) for last 25 years (from 1990 2016) has been highlighted using Landsat (5 TM, 7 ETM+ 8 TIRS) satellite images. Weather data collected from Meteorological Department used rising trends. Result research clearly indicates rapid by increasing LST. Built-up area changed 178 477 sq. km within 2016. Vegetated decreased 770 602 km. Water areas have 524 360 span 26 years. The bare increased 494 742 LST winters risen 17 °C 23 times shot up 31 °C, alarming. Annual mean air 3 4 1980s During summers, average rose startling 33 28 had steady 28.4 35 °C. relation warrants measures required plan planning, forestation, ecological mitigate disastrous trends may result flash floods, landslides, soil erosion sediment transport endangering downstream reservoirs, quality depletion ground table valley.
